Crescent City sits on the neck of land between Lake Crescent and Lake Stella, and that lakeside air keeps humidity high well into the evening — so AC systems here fight moisture as much as heat. A lot of the housing downtown and along the old US-17 corridor is older, with duct runs and units that predate modern efficiency standards, which makes short-cycling and weak dehumidification common complaints. Out toward Lake Como, Georgetown, and Fruitland you get more homes on well and septic with outdoor condensers taking full afternoon sun off the water.
